Antique pianos will include square pianos, fortepianos, grand pianos and upright pianos over a hundred years old. Antique pianos will usually have a lighter more flute like sound and are generally not as loud as modern pianos. The compass or number of notes will vary dependent on the individual instrument but will not be less than 5 octaves and not more than 7 octaves (85 notes).
